The annual AM AM, played in memory of County and Ashbourne golfer Mick Grundy was once again very well supported by twenty six teams of four and was played on a glorious Sunday afternoon on 19 September. The 24th playing of this event, it was once again wonderfully organised and run by Mick's great friend and County Golfing partner Jimmy Feeney and raised over £3000 for the Anthony Nolan Trust.
There were some excellent scores on the day with 'Hogan's Heroes' form Kedleston G.C. winning with a fine stableford total of 88 points. Best gross went to 'Lambert's Lot' Simon Griffiths, Richard Piggott, Duncan Sowter and John Lambert with a gross 135.
Jimmy thanked all those who had helped to make the day run so smoothly before Club Captain Ian McDarmaid presented the prizes. There then followed a special presentation of Honorary LIfe Membership by Past President Paul Cook to Jimmy for his unstinting service to golf and fundraising for the Anthony Nolan Trust, which resulted in a heartfelt standing ovation from all present.
Over the 24 years that this event has been held, The Mick Grundy AM AM has raised an incredible total of £57,343 for the Anthony Nolan Trust.
