The ladies annual 9 Hole Open Texas scramble was well supported with 19 teams entering on the day. Chris Perry who has been organising this twice yearly event for probably 25 years, thanked all those who had supported the competition which, with the lovely weather, turned out to be a very enjoyable event.
The scores were very close with three teams on net 28 and another eight teams on net 29 points!!
The over 50s Ladies' Taskers Team were home to Copt Heath Golf Club from Knowle near Solihull in the first leg of the first round of the Taskers Trophy. It was an excellent team performance with Ashbourne coming away with a 7-0 win. The team travelled to Copt Heath on 16 April and managed to secure 1½ points in the return leg, to win 8½-1½ and secure a place in the second round
In the second round of the Daily Mail Foursomes, Gill Lockwood and Anne Colwell had quite a tussle at Brailsford, with the match going to the 18th hole, which the Ashbourne girls won to take the match 2 up.
Steph Orgill was winner of the New Year's Trophy on count back from Helen Duffield Moore, with 35 points and Gaye Smedley won the Spring meeting with and excellent score of 41 points
The Derbyshire Golf Society’s annual dinner at Chesterfield Football Club was a memorable evening, with ten current and past captains proudly representing Ashbourne Golf Club. It was a fantastic opportunity for members to mingle with golfers from various clubs across Derbyshire, sharing stories and strengthening bonds within the golfing community. The event featured delicious food, culminating in a captivating talk by guest speaker Mark Crossley, the former professional goalkeeper. Crossley regaled the audience with fascinating tales from his time at Nottingham Forest, particularly his experiences under the legendary Brian Clough. The evening was filled with laughter, camaraderie, and a sense of community, making it a highlight for all attendees.
