Anne Colwell and Karen Flanagan travelled to Woodhall Spa for the final of the National Australian Spoons final on 10 August. It was a tough day in all respects, hot weather and played on a difficult fast running course with an incredible number of bunkers. It proved to be a tiring round, both physically and mentally but credit to the pair, who came off the final green with a smile on their faces and a creditable 27 points, putting them in 3rd place. They actually brought home the winners from Cornwall who were only two points ahead of them with 29 points and 2nd place on 28 points. More details to follow.
The ladies Bronze Team having topped their league in the County Trophy Competition and beating Chevin in their semi final, headed to Stanedge Golf Club on 6 August to face Chapel en le Frith in the final. They were hoping it would be third time lucky after being runners up the previous two years, but it was not to be. All the matches went to at least the 17th hole, but Chapel came out victorious. Despite this the Ashbourne Bronze squad can once again be proud of a very successful and enjoyable season. See report
