After the trials and tribulations of the last two years, it was fantastic once again for the club to host the team from Ashbourne County Meath on the weekend of 13-15 May. It was a great weekend, well organised and enjoyed by everyone who participated. The weather was glorious on Saturday, with some rain on Sunday, but the golf was played in great spirit throughout. There were a few bevvies and plenty of banter exchanged after the matches each day and the evening meal and entertainment on Saturday proved to be equally enjoyable.
Not only that, after four long years, Ashbourne Derbyshire was successful in reclaiming the Ashbourne Trophy. Leading 7½ - 2½ after Saturday's fourballs, the Sunday fourballs did not disappoint, winning 6 -4 for an impressive final result of 13½-6½.
Club Captain Barrie Ritchie was the proud recipient of the Ashbourne Trophy on Sunday afternoon and thanked all those who had assisted in organising and preparing for the weekend for all their efforts, as well as those who had played in the teams. It was also a wonderful weekend for members of both sides to rekindle past friendships and make new ones.
