You may be aware that Bernhard Sumper has resigned as AGC Operations Director at the end of May. We owe a great deal of gratitude to Bernhard for his tireless efforts in his role as well as the support he lends to other Directors in the running of the Club. He will certainly be a hard act to follow as he has been instrumental in ensuring the Club functions smoothly with our team of professional managers. Bernhard still aims to be hands on in some tasks especially in eliminating his enemy ... firstly, thistles & a close second, nettles.
We are deliberating the role of his successor & thank those individuals who have shown an interest in supporting the Club in this role.
The AGC Club EGM is on Thursday, July 26th when last year’s financial results will be presented.
Equipment :- We have just taken possession of a new Toro Fairway Mower replacing the old mower & have taken the chance to improve the energy efficiency. We are consciously ensuring we have top quality working machinery that helps the efficiency of the Greenstaff. We can all see what an excellent job that they doing in the quality of the course. We have also procured a PROCOR Aerator of our own. Previously we hired an aerator in twice / year to improve the Greens & aprons. Owning our own unit allows Richard & his staff to use it more frequently, which should further improve the greens & its surrounds.
The new Assistant Professional, Marley Najak has now started full time after doing his A levels in Sports Sciences at Aldecar High School. He lives on the Heanor/Marlpool border. He is being sponsored by ‘Bunker Mentality’ golf clothing, who are based in Nottingham & he does a blog for them as well as wearing their Clothing. He started playing golf at 4, 13 years ago. He is presently the Junior Captain at Breadsall Priory with a handicap of 4. He comes from a sporty family with his Dad playing golf off 5 & his younger sister is already showing good golfing promise after just starting. He is looking forward to playing in AGC Club Matches. Please make him feel welcome & introduce yourself to him.
