MICK GRUNDY MEMORIAL AM.AM. RAISES RECORD £4,453 FOR THE ANTHONY NOLAN LEUKAEMIA CHARITY

The Mick Grundy Memorial Competition
Held at Ashbourne Golf Club on Sunday 12th September 2026
In aid of the Anthony Nolan Leukaemia Charity
Glorious weather was enjoyed by the 29 teams of 4 people who took part in the 29th Annual
Mick Grundy Memorial competition at the former County players home club. The
competition raised a record £4.453 for the Anthony Nolan, the blood cancer charity.
The total raised by this competition since Mick died in 1998 for the bone-marrow
charity has reached £76,500.
The field included a large number of visitors who remarked that the course was in
fantastic condition and the hospitality in the clubhouse, provided by Adrian
Daniel and Pete Radford was second to none.
The winning team included Ashbourne members Ryan Overton and Dominic Whitley
alongside former members Adrian Randall and Nick Birds. Their winning score of 90
points was 18 under par, one clear of the field.
The best gross score of the day was claimed by club champion Simon Griffiths,
playing with Duncan Sowter, Bobby Lambert and John Lambert with an 8 under par
score.
Mick Grundy was a member of the Ashbourne golf club and played for the County
first team on 50 occasions before losing his three-year battle with Leukaemia in May
1998, aged 29.
The Anthony Nolan is an independent charity, so it continually relies of financial
support from individuals and organisations to carry out its lifesaving work in taking
lives back from blood cancers.
