Juniors Welcome

We welcome Junior members, whether beginners to the game, or those looking to improve their game. We have created a structured pathway enabling total beginners to quickly develop the skills, techniques and on course experience to become fully fledged independent golfers.

Junior Captain for 2024 is Noah Haines

Noah is almost 16 years old and has always lived in the Ashbourne area. His primary education was at Parkside School and he currently attends QEGS, where he is studying for his GCSEs.

Golf is not his only sport as he plays Scrum Half for Ashbourne's Rugby Club's 16 Team. Noah's father is also a member at Ashbourne Golf Club and Noah took up golf in 2021 on the club's junior programme. In that relatively short he time has reduced his handicap index to an impressive 10.1.

In 2023, he achieved  6th place in the Derbyshire Schools Golf Championships at Chevin G.C. and was Division 2 winner in the Erewash Junior Open.

Junior Academy Captain for 2024 is Harriet Hennessey

Harriet will be 12 in October and lives in Derby.  She attends Primary School where she has just completed her S.A.T.S but will start her secondary education in September.

Harriet, together with her younger sister Pippa, joined Ashbourne Golf Club in January 2022 and has been regularly attending coaching with the junior section.  She was thrilled when asked to be the Academy Junior Captain

Golf is not the only sport that Harriet plays, this year she has been the goalkeeper for her local football team.  She loves roller skating, cycling, climbing, netball, dodgeball and swimming.

She is an active member of her local Scout group and she loves any activity that involves being outdoors – including looking after the families’ chickens and bees!.

This year Harriet has been selected by Derbyshire County Golf to attend a coaching program specifically for local girls which she is looking forward to.

Coaching

Sessions are run all year round on Saturdays.  Following the coaching sessions there are structured on-course activities. Click here for more information.
