Juniors Welcome

We welcome Junior members, whether beginners to the game, or those looking to improve their game. We have created a structured pathway enabling total beginners to quickly develop the skills, techniques and on course experience to become fully fledged independent golfers.

Junior Captain for 2026 Is Max Burton

Most of us at the club have seen Max grow up from the age of 3. He was born in Derby in 2010 and in 2013 along with dad Mike and mum Sophie Max moved to Ashbourne Golf Club where Mike became live in club steward. Max was made welcome here and soon wanted to join his dad on the greens with a club in his hand. Sophie says he was a real chatterbox and still is!  He loved the course even then but more than that, he loved the buggies! Max says that  Steve Clancy and Rich Walker have been a big influence on his life - no doubt a good thing!

Max attended Hill Top pre-school, Ashbourne Primary and is now at QEGS where he started in 2021. Apparently now Max is following in his dad's footsteps working part time in hospitality and catering at the Red Lion Hollington and other catering establishments.

2026 is a very important year for Max as not only has he the honour of being Junior Captain, it is also his GCSE year.

Max’s focus in the future is studying business and maths whilst playing lots of golf and making a lot of money!   A kind and thoughtful young man, Max wants to do his best for the Juniors in 2026.
