Welcome to the Men's Section of the website.
Club Captain for 2023 is Peter Bembridge.
Peter was born in Ashbourne and lived for a long time in Hognaston and later in Ashbourne. He attended Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School where he excelled in athletics and rugby. He represented Derbyshire in sprint events and was selected for the 400m event National Schools' Athletics Finals at Crystal Palace. He also played Rugby for Derbyshire on one occasion and made his debut for Ashbourne Rugby Club when he was just 14!
He spent much of his working life at Charcon Products, where he started in 1973 as a trainee in the sales department. In 2000 he moved to the Bedford area working for world renowned international firm ACO as Business International Development Manager and was involved in many key projects.
Peter has lived in Ashbourne for most of his married life with his wife Chris. He has two sons and two daughters as well as five grandchildren and of course Millie the dog who is no stranger to Ashbourne Golf Club.
In 2005 he gave up smoking and was eventually persuaded by his brother Bernard to take up golf, joining Ashbourne Golf Club in 2006 and has been an active member of the club ever since.
Peter hopes to do his best to preserve the good name of Ashbourne Golf Club and represent it throughout the year to the best of his ability. The biggest challenge being retaining the Ashbourne Trophy!! He knows that he can count on members' support this year and looks
forward to playing with as many members as possible be it socially or in matches.
Peter has chosen The M. S. Society, as his Captain's Charity for 2023. It is charity close to his heart as his two daughters have been diagnosed with the condition.
