Ashbourne Golf Club hosts various "Open" competitions, including charity events, throughout the year for Men, Ladies, Senior Men and Mixed players. See the "Open Competition Entry Forms link", above left, to download currently available entry forms and information posters for future events. Upcoming events are also shown in the diary link below.
Please note that certain "Open" competitions can be booked online, for these please see the Open competition online booking link on the Home page of the Website. For the majority of the Seniors Mens Open competitions and the Charity Open events the above mentioned entry form link should be used.

The 2018 Senior Mens Open competition took place on the 15th August 2018 with again a maximum number of 200 player taking part for the third year running. The event was again sponsored by Lexus Derby who provided a "Lexus watch" as the prize for the nearest the pin competition on the 14th hole and many thanks go to them for their continued support. Ashbourne G.C. members proved successful with Les Birkett and Andy Rogers winning the main competition with 45 points and John Hammond winning the nearest the pin competition, John will be presented with the Lexus watch worth circa £300 at the Lexus Derby dealership on Pride Park Derby. The prizes were presented to those winners present following completion of a long day, by the Club Captain Alan Mudie. Many thanks go to all involved in the organisation of the event throughout the year and on the day including the greens staff who again presented the course in excellent condition. The 2018 Senior Mens Team AM - AM Open competition took place on the 6th July 2018 and the report of the day and the winners can be found via the link below.

A summary of the 2017 Open Competition results is given below.
The Seniors Open was held on the 16th August 2017 with "Lexus" sponsoring the day in particular providing a Lexus Watch (value circa £300) as the prize for the nearest the pin competition on the 14th Hole. This was won by Clive Ledger of Stanton On The Wold G.C. who received his prize at a special presetation at Lexus Derby (see the club News page).
The winners of the main event were J. Nicholls and C. Cotton of Lichfield G.C. with 45 points. All 196 entries played making the day a huge success thanks must go to the Seniors Section committee members for organising the event and all the volunteers, both members and family, for all their efforts on the day.The full prize winners list can be seen via the link below. The AGC Open competition was held on 2nd July 2017 and saw S. Grifiths and A. Nicholls win first prize with R. Walker and S. Hall 2nd, and C. Scott and P. Bosworth 3rd.
On Friday 7th July 2017 the Seniors AM/AM competition was held with a total of 172 golfers enjoying a bright and sunny day, of these 104 players were visitors to AGC. The winning team with 90 points were R. Swabey/P. Griffin/K. Blisset and B. Thornton from AGC with second place going to N. Marples (Matlock)/P. Yeomans (Stanedge)/P. Bradley and E. Thornhill with 89 points. Many thanks to all sponsors and helpers who made it a very enjoyable day.
The annual British Heart Foundation (BHF) Charity Day was held the 21st July 2017 when 176 golfers took part. The winning team was from Uttoxeter G. C. who scored 94 points. Thanks must go to many people especially Terry Hunt for organising the event, Specsavers who provided sponsorship as well as a sleeve of golf balls for all competitors and all the many other local Sponsors and providers of quality gifts for the raffle. A magnificent £5758 was raised for the BHF.
The Rotary Charity Am Am is well established at the club and was held on 23 June last year. Over the years a substantial amount of money has been raised for various charities including £2500 last year. The event will be held on Friday 29 June in 2018 and will be mainly in support of the Air Ambulance.
