Seniors Welcome

Welcome to the Seniors' section of the website.

Seniors' Captain for 2018 is John Taylor and his Vice Captain is Jed Allen.

John is Derbyshire born and bred after school, he attended Bradford University where he qualified as a civil engineer. He has worked on oil rigs and in construction, later returning to university to train as a Maths teacher. He taught at Landau Forte School in Derby, where he became Director of Studies until his retirement.

John joined Ashbourne Golf club in 2010, plays off 6 handicap and this year has had a successful year as Match and Handicap Secretary, he has also taken on the role of Club Vice Captain for 2018.

The Seniors' Section organises a series of events aimed at gentlemen members over 55. These include the ever popular social 9 hole stableford competition, held every Monday morning throughout the year and 12 home and away matches with Seniors from local golf clubs. Two Senior Men's “Open” events, the Team AM-AM and the Seniors Men's Open, will again be held in 2018 for members and visitors, as well as other charity open events for the British Heart Foundation and Cancer Research Charities organised by the Seniors' but which are open to non-senior players.

Entry forms for 2018 are available to down load from the web site, please see the main menu under “Open Golf Events”, in addition start time availability information is also shown for the Seniors' Open.
